Drug test shows entire Urdaneta Police force negative

URDANETA CITY—The result was negative.

This was the findings of the drug test on the entire 95- member of the police force here last Wednesday. The test was made based on a directive of the police regional office after persistent suspicion clouds some of them for being illegal drug users.

Superintendent Paquito Navarrete, who has just assumed his post more than a week ago, said he and Mayor Amadeo Perez Jr. have earlier made plans to subject their policemen into drug testing as part of their cleansing process. But the police regional office overtook it after Senior Superintendent Nicanor Casaclang, deputy regional director for administrative suddenly called up Navarette Wednesday informing him to gather his men as he was coming to visit them.

They didn’t know the visit was for them to have drug test.

Navarette said he is very positive that there is no police member here hooked on drugs as there was no negative reaction when his men underwent the test.

“They were all very willing to undergo the test and they urinated one by one for their urine sample to avoid switching,” he added.

“With their behavior, I am 95 percent sure no one will be found positive of drugs but we still have to wait for the official result”, he said.

True enough, no one was found positive.

Meanwhile, combined elements of police here, San Carlos City, Manaoag, Dagupan City, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), regional police and provincial police groups with Superintendents Noli Taliño, provincial intelligence officer and Rolando Magno, head of Special Operations Group and
Chief Inspector Cristopher Abrahano of PDEA swooped down on suspected drug dens in Poblacion, Nancayasan, Nancamaliran and Camantiles this city and in barangay Linmansangan, Binalonan town in simultaneous raids with search warrants Thursday noon.

Several shabu residues and paraphernalia were seized from 11 suspects in this city while others managed to escape.

The Binalonan raid however yielded 88.2 grams of marijuana in the premises of one Rodolfo Catabay.
